HISTORY OF EDGE BIOSYSTEMS

Founded in 1989, Edge BioSystems was one of the pioneers in DNA sequencing reaction cleanup systems, which led to its enormously popular PERFORMA® DTR product line. Through the years, Edge has expanded its product offering to include high-throughput DNA and PCR purification products, most notably our QuickStep2™ line for PCR purification and the PERFORMA® SR line of high-throughput products for oligonucleotide purification and protein desalting. Its latest product offering includes competent cells as well as the upcoming electrocompetent cell strains. These cell lines offer the same high transformation efficiencies from single-use tubes to 96-well plates without the need to change protocols.

Today, Edge occupies extensive office, R&D, and production facilities in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Our R&D staff continues to develop some of the most innovative products on the marketplace. All of our products are manufactured under rigorously controlled conditions, using raw materials from specially qualified suppliers. Each product passes stringent in-process and finished product quality control testing, in our labs and under "real world" conditions, and is backed by our written guarantee.
